I don't know where to start! I feel a little over whelmed since I now have a Digg, Reddit, Newsvine, Mixx, Myspace, Facebook, and many more social media site memberships. I have to admit I had a lot before I started this challenge but I didn't have any of the one's within this challenge except Myspace and Facebook. It seems like these days there are as many social networking sites as there are people on earth. (and they are very very addicting) which I guess is what I'll talk about in this blog.
Are these social sites a productivity enhancer or a productivity detractor?
When I don't have much time I can easily scan these sites for info that's important at that time and get off some what quickly but when I have a day off and start looking at these sites I can literally spend the entire day looking around at stuff that's just interesting. I think everything is like that where you can either be really efficient in doing it or you can let every little bit of information catch your eye whether it is relevant or not.

This thing was fun. I definitely think I would use this when I go back to school. I subscribed to the RSS feed and set up an account. I looked at a bookmark that had 270 comments on it! I always think it's kinda funny when people keep leaving the same comments on things. I always read comments and if I see one that is similar to what I wanted to say I simply don't leave a comment or I just leave a comment saying I agree with so and so. It just makes sense to me.

I also checked out that pagekeeper site and thought it was a wonderful resource. Looking at these make me more and more excited/motivated to go back to school. It just feels like there are so many resources out there and easier ways to find them that it just keeps getting better and more efficiant.

There are so many useful things you can do with a wiki. I'm especially impressed with the Albany County Public Library staff wiki!! After I am done with 23things I really want to make something like this even if it's just for myself to have a clear reference of our policies. I don't know if it's a common problem within all libraries or if it's just within Anoka County that we don't have a clear reference of policies that are constantly changing. In the mean time I signed up for a wiki and will slowly start adding stuff to it. Here is a link

I edited the main 23 things on a stick wiki. I claimed that NTN's crowned fashionista was here. Here is a link. http://23onastick.pbwiki.com/?full_access=Pc2BbORfc5&l=S

P.S. Yesterday I was crowned NTN libraries fashionista by Louann Smith AND NTN libraries gogo dancer by Sherry Oaks. I am honored to hold these titles and I hope I continue to do them justice. lol

I have been having a hard time motivating myself to continue down the 23 thing road lately. I don't want to sound spoiled but it all seems so simple. I see all these things I either use everyday or things that I don't use because I feel I found a different provider that does it better. Should we be using these at the library? Of course!!!!! It's ridiculous to not use what you have available especially with our limited budgets and so much of it is free.

Now to get back on track with this task. I use email, instant messaging, and text messaging everyday and I see how they could be extremely useful at the library. Web conferencing seemed like a great idea and kinda reminded me of chat rooms with web cams so all though it wasn't familiar it still seemed familiar.

I looked at all the information on library 2.0 and that thing that amazes me the most is the fact that some people are apposed to using technology to it's full advantage. I guess I understand because at the previous library I worked at it was a constant struggle to handle all of the kids on Myspace and monitor there usage of our services but since working at my current library I have found that with well organized staff and knowledgeable supervisors that work with you instead of against you it is really quite easy to mange the teens in the library and their use of the Internet.
